Ron Belanger was born in 1942 to a globe-trotting Navy family. He's been addicted to photography since he took his first photo with his father's Speed Graphic 4x5 camera in London when he was five. At the University of Wisconsin Madison, Ron worked as lighting director, camera and floor manager at WHA, the local PBS station. Despite that, he graduated in 1965 with a BS in Asian Studies and went on to a 20 year career as a Naval Aviator. While serving in the Navy he earned an MS in Computer Science at Naval Postgraduate School Monterey and graduated from the staff course at the Royal Naval College in Greenwich, United Kingdom.

Ron retired from the Navy in 1985 to lead a team developing computer simulation software at CACI in La Jolla till 1990 when he became an independent consultant. Though he's consulted on more serious endeavors such as air traffic control systems, the fascinating Chunnel and the search for the Higgs boson, the most visible evidence of Ron's work is the software used to manage theater lighting, choreograph firework displays and control performing fountains including the iconic fountain at the Bellagio in Las Vegas. Ron is currently a partner in Big Black Boots (, an internet business selling custom boots since 1985.

His photographs have appeared in magazines, newspapers, adverts, book jackets, catalogs, coffee table books, DVD covers, numerous web sites and television, but never on radio. His photos have shown at San Diego Art Institute, La Jolla Art Association, Expressions of Mexico Gallery, Sony / San Diego Art Institute International Digital Fine Art Exhibition 2006, Poway Center for the Performing Arts, many Digital Arts Guild Shows, Palm Springs Art Show, International Exhibition of Photography at the San Diego County Fair and other venues.
